The 2015 Green Building Adoption Index ranked Phoenix 18th out of the 30 markets in its index of “green” companies. Phoenix’s green square footage increased from 28 percent to 31.4 percent and moved up three rankings from 21, just since last year.
As a whole, Phoenix showed major improvements this year with increases in both ENERGY STAR labels and the percentage of square footage holding LEED certification, according to CBRE Group, Inc.
Local experts say it is too early to tell whether green buildings are becoming a trend, but there are definitely strides in that direction with new LEED standards and more.
